Greyson the Whale
Greyson the Whale
By Summit Expeditionary Academy · Metal frame by Rick WesleyBuilt by sixth-grade students from Summit Expeditionary Academy, who spent months collecting marine debris from Camano Island beaches. Named after teacher Greyson Spencer, the whale's metal frame was crafted by local metalworker Rick Wesley and filled with the litter the students gathered — a powerful statement about plastic pollution and what a community can create together. The students collected trash from beaches all around the island over two months, then used the debris to construct the sculpture. It stands as the school's legacy — a fitting final project for Summit, which closed in July 2015 after seven years.
